Environmentally-friendly Innovations for Today's Home

Vailes is Going Green!

We all need to help save this planet; if not for ourselves then for future generations to come. Everyone knows about turning lights off, driving our cars less, recycling and so on. There is much more that we can do, with a little effort and understanding that our work today will help leave a greener world for our children tomorrow.

Five simple things that everyone can do to help save this planet are:

    1. Buy rechargeable batteries to accompany electronic gifts or for your own home, and consider giving and getting a battery charger as well.
    2. Buy or switch to energy efficient lighting fixtures and bulbs. Look for the Energy Star label.
    3. Take your old computers or other electronics to a local recycling center. This helps keep lead, cadmium, and other substances out of the landfill.
    4. Don’t buy aerosol cans, they can’t be recycled and will end up in the landfill. Instead of aerosols, look for spray bottles, liquids, powders, and roll-ons.
    5. Leave grass clippings on the lawn to add nitrogen, which promotes a greener color and thicker grass and will add nutrients to the soil.

In 2008, Vailes is committed to going green in an effort to do our part in saving the planet. We are implementing changes in all of our four divisions to help the environment. Some of the things we are doing today are:

  • Stocking our service trucks fully and scheduling service more efficiently to reduce the amount of “drive time” for our technicians to reduce the amount of fossil fuels our vehicles consume.
  • Our Heating and Air division is promoting high efficiency Trane Air Conditioning equipment that uses environmentally friendly refrigerant, as well as Trane CleanEffects for whole house air purification.
  • We are utilizing dual flush toilets in our Remodeling and Plumbing divisions to reduce the amount of water consumption. Our cabinet manufacturers have achieved their green certifications.
  • Our TC Electric division can install energy efficient lighting fixtures and bulbs. Look for the Energy Star label. Consider installing lighting controls and timers that will turn off lights when not needed and low voltage lighting to conserve power.
  • Our Pool and Spa division is instituting the use of cartridge filters in our pools to reduce water consumption and reduce the amount of harsh chemicals emitted into the environment. Variable flow and variable speed motors allow our pools to be more energy efficient and energy saving.

Vailes is going green and continues to maintain the highest standard for top quality service and products for every client with four ways to serve you better.
